The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) Statement of Support for Julie Su following Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions markup
We believe in an America where we do not only belong but prosper. Julie Su’s commitment to advancing equity in the workplace while advocating for workers’ rights brings us closer to that future.
Wednesday, April 25, 2023 - Following the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions markup on the nomination of Julie Su, TAAF Chief Executive Officer Norman Chen issued the following statement:
“The Asian American Foundation strongly supports the swift confirmation of Julie Su to serve as our nation’s next U.S. Secretary of Labor.
As the former California Labor Secretary and most recently serving alongside then Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh, Julie is an experienced and tireless advocate for labor and civil rights with a proven record of advancing policies to create a stronger, more inclusive, and resilient economy. Julie has successfully fought to protect the rights of low-wage workers and underrepresented communities including people of color, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and immigrants and she is exceptionally qualified to lead the Department of Labor.
We believe in an America where we do not only belong but prosper. Julie Su’s commitment to advancing equity in the workplace while advocating for workers’ rights brings us closer to that future. We urge the Senate to confirm her nomination swiftly, as the Department of Labor will continue to thrive under Julie’s visionary leadership.”
