Statement on Hindu Temple Vandalization in Melville, Long Island

We are deeply troubled and outraged by the hateful act of vandalism that occurred at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu temple in Melville, New York earlier this week.

This attack on a sacred place of worship is an attack on the values of inclusivity, respect, and unity that should define our nation. We stand in solidarity with the Hindu community and all those who are affected by this senseless act of hatred, and we call on local authorities and policymakers to not only investigate this crime to the fullest extent, but to take meaningful action to ensure that places of worship remain a safe space for members of our community.
