San Francisco
Strengthening
San Francisco's grassroots AAPI-serving nonprofits through flexible funding, capacity building, and support.

Small, community-embedded organizations play a critical role in promoting safety, belonging, and prosperity across San Francisco. But despite their outsized impact, these groups have historically struggled to sustain their services due to limited resources and lack of support.

The “Asian American Voices” initiative in San Francisco is directly addressing this gap by providing capacity-building grants and event sponsorships to local Asian American and Pacific Islander community-based nonprofits. Leveraging The Asian American Foundation’s (TAAF) infrastructure and convening power, we are encouraging donors to invest in the grassroots organizations that have tirelessly served our AAPI communities, but face sustainability challenges.

Voices from the Community

“TAAF is proud to work with co-funders in the Bay Area to support Asian American Voices in San Francisco, which furthers our commitment to invest in solutions that are community-led and people-centered.”

Norman Chen
CEO, The Asian American Foundation

“Years after the pandemic-era surge in anti-Asian violence, the effort shows an evolution from reactive organizing toward sustained institution-building. The movement to stop anti-Asian hate galvanized communities. This next phase is about ensuring that organizations have the relationships and structure to work together and lead for the long term.”
